Position Title: Program Assistant
Reports to: Program Coordinators and Executive Director
Status: Part-Time – 20 hours per week - afternoons
Benefits: Paid holidays, vacation, parking
Compensation: $15.87/hr.

General Description of Responsibilities: Afternoon program assistant; provides key data and office support to the Adult Basic Education and English as a Second Language Programs as well as general office support for staff, volunteers, and students.

Is part of a team that helps Tompkins Learning Partners carry out its mission to provide literacy and language tutoring to adults in our community.

Examples of specific duties:

1. Data Entry – Responsible for recording student, tutor and other volunteer statistical data from multiple sources into Excel spreadsheets and agency databases, including the New York State Education Dept.’s ASISTS.

2. Data Management – Stays current on reporting requirements for different funders, which may occasionally require attendance at statewide trainings. Collects and compiles data into Excel spreadsheets and databases for various funding reports. Meets regularly with Program Coordinators to ensure data collection and follow-up, as well as to review data collection procedures.

3. Reception – Attends to visitors and deals with inquiries on the phone, through email, and face to face. Supplies information regarding the organization to the general public, volunteers, and students.

4. Other- Assists Program Coordinators and Executive Director as requested. Attends staff meetings and participates in setting and attaining agency goals.

Skills/Educational requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent
Proficient with MS Office programs-- especially Excel; experience with social media a plus
Data entry experience
Ability to maintain accurate records and files and handle confidential information
Ability to generate reporting data in a timely manner
Good interpersonal/verbal/writing skills
Welcoming, inclusive, and professional manner
Capacity to work calmly under pressure
Ability to work as part of a team

Working hours are: 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday, not negotiable.
