Scrabble for Literacy

SCRABBLE FOR LITERACY: Scrabble for Literacy is not a tournament; it's a party. The rules of the event allow everyone to participate and have a good time, no matter their Scrabble skill level. Guests will be seated at tables of eight, and when Scrabble play begins, watch out! Each table will play as a team against all other tables.

This year's event was held on Saturday,  March 7, 2009 at the Clarion Hotel.  Playing rounds centered around a theme provided at the beginning of each round. The Mucho Scrabblers were the winners this year.

Recognition Picnic

RECOGNITION PICNIC: Every year TLP has a picnic to honor students and volunteers. Guests bring food to share with each other.   At this event TLP presents two special awards.  The first award is the Henry Cowan Outstanding Tutor Award.  This award honors a tutor  who works especially hard to help people make their lives better through literacy.  The second award is the Exemplar Award. This award is presented to an individual, organization or business that has provided outstanding service to TLP in a non-tutoring capacity. This year our picnic will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Stewart Park's small pavilion.
